I'm hunting for a new job...

Okay, fair enough. I'm looking at the potential of being hired at 2 different places, both paying at least what my former employer was paying me. I'll keep you informed, or you can follow my progress on my blog (link's in my profile).

I got some great news to share! I got hired at the local Pizza 73 on the spot. It's 2-3 hrs/day, 2-3 days a week at $8.80/hr (min. wage). I start tomorrow evening at 7 PM.

As well, I might get a call from Pizza Hut this weekend or the beginning of next week.

The way I was tossed away like garbage from the McDonald's here makes me think McDonald's is the worst place to get a job.

I'm going for an interview tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM at the local KFC. I'll let you know how that turns out.

It went okay, and now I'm waiting for a call for a follow-up interview. I can expect it by tomorrow according to the store manager.

All this for fast food?

When I was 14, I got a job at Blimpie...

My mom went in and basically told them I needed a job. I went in a day later and I was hired. I became a manager with a key a few months later.

I've been looking for a job since early last year. I could easily get a job in foodservice (the local McDonalds is constantly burning out high school kids so they are always hiring), but I don't think I could deal with all that a foodservice job entails.
I'm currently holding out for a job at RadioShack, which seems like it is low-volume and specific enough that it would weed out the typical "Which key is 'any key'" type of people. I actually got a call for an interview a couple of weeks ago, but a communications screwup on my part led to the interviews being finished before I was able to do a followup call to ask what happened. The alternative is GameStop, which is generally a shitty place to work.

2-3 hour shifts are legal?

Why wouldn't they be?

My HR told me it was illegal in NYS, but I think shes misinformed. Either that or it is a company policy to have no shifts less than 4 hours.
