»Will Spore Do Well?

I find that the game called Spore will probably do well. There are a few things that bug me, though. One of them is that all generated content is uploaded back to EA's servers. Who owns that content? EA is probably one of the worst things to happen to video games. They are just a big company that releases the same utter crap for the 10th time and complain when sales are bad. No one wants to buy a polished turd. Spore is their first totally new game in a long time.

Quote

There's no disputing that people are enjoying the game's content creation system. That's because EA released the Spore creature creator in June as a free download in order to both stoke interest in the game and, perhaps more important, to populate the game's database of creatures with users' creations.

And it worked. The company says more than 2.5 million people got the creature creator and made more than 2 million different species, all of which will become part of the game.

What isn't known is how the rest of the game will go over, or how important that will be to whether it is a financial success. That's because, for the most part, EA hasn't shown very much of Spore's actual game play publicly. In a long series of demos over the last three years, it has mainly shown the creature creator and certain parts of the cell and space stages. But few people outside EA have seen extended play from the rest of the game.

That's not entirely true I would say. EA has shown in the past couple of years to have the same luster they had on the Genny in a couple of their divisions (mainly Black Box with games like skate). It is just that everything else in the company is essentially run the same way that Microsoft is, only worse.

Battle field 1942,vietnam and 2 were all great games in my opinion. Spore looks like it could be fun. I'll just be torrenting it when its released though, if i enjoy it I'll buy it then. I've played quite a few good EA games actually, but i will agree i'd say around 70% of their games are utter crap.

Ofcourse Spore will do well I'm gonna get it maybe make some kind of creature with a leg where it's head should be.
It's just so customizable everyone will love it.

It's not what you are doing that bothers me but rather the idiotic way in which you are doing it.
More nightmares will come to me...more than I previously had.

The Battlefield games were done by DICE, who was then bought by EA and proceeded to make shitty sequels (2142, Bad Company).

But they still take the same shitty games and rehash them over and over and sell them for the same high prices.

How many new Madden games at $60 are you willing to buy? The market is really stupid. If they just stopped buying all these shitty games over and over, the companies might get a clue.

Some people are just stupid.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Bad Company is a decent game wrapped up in a bullshit shell game sales scheme that ruins the game for anyone who refuses to let EA sucker them.

Hmm, well I've been playing the game for awhile now and I must say I'm quite disappointed. The game is just too simple to play, I know they wanted to make it easy for people to play, but they made it so easy it isn't even a challenge till you get to the space stage. Then it gets so difficult that I lost interest. Hell, I love managing stuff but the constant hopping back and forth between colonies and defending them from invaders constantly while not being able to make enough money to afford the weapons necessary to attack the invaders planets really let me down. Then the game started crashing whenever I did invade their planets with none of the updates fixing that problem. I'm contemplating uninstalling it and putting it on the shelf.

A serious disappointment, I liked the videos of the earlier game, but they don't even look like the same game when I compare them. Oh well.

dont worry thell use the technoligy they used on spore to create a spore-type game for adults where you can build creatures that look more realistic and make it difficult like more then jus having quests that say (go meet a new creature and collect parts) but all in all I like the spore game

Spore was akin to expecting a really nice Italian dinner at some expensive down town restaurant and getting Olive Garden instead. It was a let down, but only because it promised too much. I've found that the game is incredibly enjoyable for the casual gamers out there. For those of us who were expecting Spore to become our lives, don't waste your time.

The DRM protection is terrible as well. I bought the game, I didn't rent it. I should be able to install it as many times as I want.

All in all, I've let my family install it on their family computer so that my parents and younger sister can enjoy the game. I still play it and my girlfriend some times gets the urge to evolve a creature, but there are other games I'd rather to devote my time to. It's a fun game for a while, but it grows tiresome and the later levels are too hard for too little.
