Read this text: WE DON'T WANT OR NEED NEW DRM HD DISKS. Your attempt at control is failing with Bluray and HD DVD. Just give up and let us use the less DRMed DVD standard.

Quote

Engineering one-upsmanship aside, combo DVD players will likely be costly, at least initially. Standard Blu-ray players cost $600 or more, and HD DVD players go for $400 or more. The lasers used in Blu-ray players also remain in tight supply. That limitation played a role in Sony's PlayStation 3 shortage as the game consoles--which contain a Blu-ray player--went on sale late last year. A combo player would have duplicative or more specialized parts and thus cost even more. Another factor adding cost is royalties. Manufacturers that build combo players have to pay fees to both the Blu-ray and HD DVD organizations. Although LG has said it will ship its combo player in the first quarter, it won't reveal the price until Sunday, a spokesman said.

The companies behind these standards are so stupid. They put their pride before what the customers want. That shows you what these companies are really like. Seriously, why do we put up with this stuff?

It must be said that Blu-Ray isn\'t really failing at the moment, and the format war is more-or-less over.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

Ohh yeah?

Who won exactly?

' (testing something)

Where did that slash come from before that apostrophe?

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

All signs are pointing to Blu-Ray, and many movie studios are bailing out of HD-DVD.

The hell if I know. Blame the shitty school keyboard.

What are these "signs" you speak of?

And what are the spoils of this format war? Domination of a market no one but the rich needed?

I would argue that format in disk form are dying out. The younger generation, full of teen angst, would much rather have their media on a HD. Thats how I roll. HD is too big for the pipes right now of the internet. Plus Blu-Ray can't win. they banned porn ob the format. Just like they did with Beta-Max.

Signs? Far more support from the companies. Far more support on the player side of things.
And saying digital distribution is anywhere near feasible in the next 10 years is silly. HDD are not big enough to do so, nor is the internet fast enough.
Porn industry is a non-issue, because most of that is covered by Digital Distribution.
And the BDA did not ban porn outright. They just stated they would not publish any titles. There is already porn on the format.
